What is Dr. I-Net All About?
Dr. I-Net is a new and exciting concept designed to facilitate on-time healthcare delivery using the information superhighway. It is an innovative approach in the delivery of service and rapid flow of information. Dr.I-Net stores your biographical information, medical history, charts, scans and laboratory test results. All of this is accomplished in real-time using data entry and state-of-the-art imaging technology.

Dr. I-Net recognizes that the healthcare industry, because of its size and extreme dependence on information exchange, is particularly well suited to benefit from the use of the internet. Most processes in healthcare remain duplicative and paper-based, resulting in wasted efforts, high labor costs and at times lead to delays in delivery of care.

"Medicine is riddled with inefficiencies, outrageous costs, and outmoded technology...Already, health care accounts for 14% of the nation's gross domestic, product, and that's expected to climb to nearly 20% by 2005." -Businessweek December 2000

Physicians are finding themselves challenged by a rapidly evolving healthcare market. What is needed is a low cost means of automating complex clinical records so that physicians' valuable time is spent caring for patients. This solution must be accessible, open, reliable and secure. It must provide physicians with information they need and support the work their office staff performs in order to deliver effective patient care. The solution must be compatible with existing systems and need not require a major investment in computer hardware, software or system maintenance. In the future Dr. I-Net intends to include the use of voice-recognition systems as part of a transcription service. Dr. I-Net's services will provide physicians with the following advantages:

  • Convenience in operating rooms.
  • Legible, clear and precise documentation.
  • Usage of talking computers.
  • Referral Convenience.
  • Easy access to records by several attending physicians.
  • Centralization of medical records.
  • Reduction of physician's, nurse's, and other supporting personnel's workload through an automated and structured approach.
  • Physicians can also provide health information to their patients by asking them to log into Dr. I-Net and click on the link that pertains to their ailment.

"The average physician with an annual billing of $650,000 is currently losing between $35,000 and $100,000 a year to claim denials. These lost claims occur because the doctors do not have adequate documentation for their patient encounters or have billed incorrectly for their services." -Businessweek December 2000

Dr. I-Net addresses this problem by automating claims with Bill Master in conjunction with the central database where the patients history is maintained.

Individuals

Over the last decade, patients have taken a more active role in their healthcare. Frequently, they have to reproduce their entire medical history when changing doctors or when faced with a medical emergency. Dr. I-Net will:

      • Empower them within the healthcare system.
      • Expedite their medical encounter.
      • Improve their overall status of well being.
      • Provide a one-stop solution for all of their healthcare needs.
      • International Gateway to complimentary medicine.

"A recent survey by Cyber Dialogue, a market-research firm that tracks Internet health care trends, found that health care information is one of the three most popular topics on the Net. In 1999, 24.8 million adults, or 43% of all adult Internet users, searched the Web for health info - a 45% increase from 1998. By 2002, growth of this group will outpace that of general Internet users by 60%." -Businessweek December 2000

Individuals will like this free service as it minimizes aggravation during emergency situations. This service also offers access to alternate medicine, health information and it acts as a basis for second opinions worldwide. Soon it will provide solutions to stem escalating medical costs.

Healthcare purchasers have placed an enormous amount of pressure on managed care and insurance companies to lower their costs. In addition, these companies are facing intense competition and must increasingly differentiate themselves around value. Health plans and insurer's core administrative and information services are often poorly supported by inflexible legacy systems that are costly to integrate and are difficult to obtain information from. Health plans and insurers need a better way to meet their customers' and partners' information needs and to automate and simplify time-consuming and labor-intensive tasks. These companies will the have following incentives to use Dr. I-Net:

      • Avoiding inaccurate and unnecessary claims.
      • Lowering of administrative costs.
      • Keeping track of patient diagnoses.
      • Initial insurance enrollment verification for both life and health insurance.
      • Avoiding duplicate diagnostic tests.
"Healthcare analysts at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffay estimate that medical errors cost more than $3 billion annually." -Businessweek December 2000

"In a study of 379 consecutive admissions at an urban hospital, 10,070 medical orders were written by hand, resulting in 530 mistakes." -Businessweek December 2000

Pharmacies and Pharmaceutical Companies

Pharmacies can communicate with the patients and their physicians for personalized medication. Also, in the future ventures like The Human Genome Project will allow personalized medicine for patients by keeping the history and medical records at one location to be viewed by various attending physicians.

"In a recent case, a hospital in Istanbul submitted X-rays of a young man who had broken his leg. While the Turkish hospital had been planning to put the leg in a cast, a radiologist at Mass. General spotted a rare form of bone cancer, and brought the man to Boston for surgery." -Businessweek December 2000
